Hi,

My mum was told that she qualified for the full funding form the council her at £340 per week.  its difficult to find a home for that, but I managed to find one that was £374 so needed to top it up ourselves as the LA wouldn't pay any more.  However - having found a nice room etc, the Council then turned round yesterday and at a panel, refused funding for my mum, said there are more needy cases this week and mum mum must stay in hospital.  This could go on for weeks (its a weekly panel) and my mum's body is frail but her mind is really good, and I am worried she will start declining after being in a hospital environment for so long.  I have also lost the place in the home now as well.  How can they assess her as needing residential care, having no funding, and then refuse?

Does anyone know whether I can do anything - I feel absolutely helpless at the moment.
