  • Handy Man - Recommendation or Advice 1470

Am hoping someone may be able to help me here, my parents recently moved into a bungalow due to ill health on both their parts. The bungalow has been substantially refurbished / adapted where need be to help them with their day to day lives with both myself & my two brothers assisting in large amounts to get everything up & running. We are finding now that my parents wait for us for even the smallest of jobs to be undertaken which is proving extremely difficult in terms of our availablity. We have suggested to them that rather than wait for us to become available that they try to find a local handyman who can undertake small jobs & that we will continue to manage larger pieces of work for them. Has anyone had experience of making use of a handyman for their parents or better still know of the best way of finding a reputable & honest person. I know personal recommendation is the best but at the moment we don't know of anyone who has used such a service etc & are limited to adverts in a local newspaper.

It may be worthwhile contacting your parents' local branch of the charity Age Concern, as they may be able to advise on local handymen. You can find a local Age Concern branch by following this link :- http://www.ageconcern.org.uk/AgeConcern/local.asp

You could also contact your parents' local Home Improvement Agency, which you can find by following this link :- http://www.foundations.uk.com/hiasearch.aspx
