St Drostan's is a purpose-built care home with accommodation for 28 elderly residents. The care home is a happy community, with excellent standards of care, and is a valued part of the village community in Old Deer.
Aberdeenshire Council is proposing to close the home and relocate the residents elsewhere. Most of the residents are country people who have lived close by Old Deer for all of their lives. They do not want to be relocated to distant urban care homes remote from their relatives and friends, and from the place they know.
The story of the campaign to Save St Drostan's is given in the website
