  • State pension in 2010 434

Are women aware that in the year 2010. Women can retire at the age of 60 and receive the full state pension, should they have made at least 30 years of National Insurance Contrbutions.

My wife at 63,has made 33 years of National Insurance Contrbutions and receives a reduced pension of £63.00 per week.

In the year 2010, she will not get a full state pension, but remain on this reduced amount.

Does this contravene the age discrimination legislation and discriminate against older women?

That doesn't make sense from what you've written. Has she already retired? If she retired now at age 63 she would have retired late as the current state retirement age is 60 and, therfore, she would have got an enhanced pension for late retirement.

I am in the same situation I am 64 and have made 34 years of full National Insurance Contributions and also get a reduced rate of Pension. I have contacted Mike O,Brien Minister for Pension Reform and asked him why someone who has paid more that 30 years gets less than someone with only 30 years credits.....I am still waiting a reply...  I think this is discrimination and frankly from a Prime Minister who wants a fair and just society does not make sense. Will the Press have a field day like the 10p tax removal. The more this is bought into the open the more chance we have.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. The facts are this, a women retiring at age 60 in 2010 with only 30 years full contributions will get the full state pension.Me me and thousands of other women who have paid more than 30 years contributions but not the current 40 years requirement get only a per centage therefore it follows that it cannot be fair for women retiring in April 2010 age 60 years with only 30 years will get a full pension..and we remain on the reduced pension....Hope you know understand the full picture..

yes, i do agree that it's a clear case of discrimination.  like you, i get a slightly reduced pension, and i'm livid that women retiring in a couple of years time with fewer contributions than me will get the full pension.  what's going on?  does Help the Aged monitor the discussion boards, and if so can they tell us what they and we can do to overturn this deeply unfair situation?
