The recent letter released by the Chief Medical Officer about the 2008/9 Influenza programme recommends that staff in nursing and care homes who look after the elderly should be offered flu vaccinations by their employers.
'Influenza immunisation of health and social care staff may reduce the transmission of infection to vulnerable patients, some of whom may have impaired immunity and not respond well to thier own immunisation.'
The letter also suggests that Care homes should use Occupational Health services to vaccinate their employees.
Does anyone know of any Care homes that offer flu vaccination to their staff? What are peoples thoughts about this?
