We have had two unfortunate experiences with trusting Financial advisors.  The first time we were saved by the wonderful Ombudsmand -

The second time - we had been advised to put a lump sum (husband's pension) into a portfolio which was in a 'low risk' investment - but which ended up losing all the money it made last year and making only 2-3% this year - so we have taken it out and will have to weather the loses.

Now we don't know what to do with our money???  It is my husband's pension - so it has to make a decent return.

We don't feel we can go to Financial Advisors because they make money on your money and their interests must be compromised.

We will be putting our money in savings accounts - but only £35,000 is guaranteed - if the bank -( Northern Rock!!) goes under.

It seems to me that the 'Fat Cats' continue to make millions and the small investor pays the price.
