I am currently working on a proposal to develop a Home from Hopsital/ Good Neighbours scheme and would like to hear older peoples views about how useful they feel support immediatley after hospital discharge is/would be.

I would also welcome any information on outcomes of projects that are already providing this type of service.

Depends what you mean by 'support'.

Following discharge from hospital one is obviously not yet fit and able to undertake normal activities, especially if on crutches or similar.

Another obvious factor to take into consideration is if the person lives alone, in a house or bungalow, or in sheltered accommodation with other people around. 

Just to clarify what I mean, my husband and I have had the whole 'sickness and health' thing since we first got together nearly 11 years ago.  We've both had major surgery several times. But we 'support' each other, so it hasn't been a problem. We also do online banking and we can do online grocery shopping when necessary.  But if things were different, then we really would need some 'support'. If one of us was alone, if we had to get out to do shopping and banking etc, it would be hugely different.
