My elderly 81yr old mother who resides at a nursing home, as she needs 24hr care, after my dad died entrusted my two eldest brothers to look after her finances. We then lost our eldest brother, leaving the next eldest with power of attorney on his own. He set about straight away plundering my mothers bank account, leaving her with nothing, unpaid nursing home fee`s, old tatty clothes, and a borrowed radio from the nursing home. My wife and I eventurely got the power of attorney revoked by taking him to a court hearing, but alas to late. If it was not for the fact that my eldest brother left some money for her, my mother would have been turned out by the home. Has any one else been a victim of abuse at the hands of a trusted family member or friend who you granted power of attorney to, or do you know any one who has?
