My gran has recently had a heart attack and her arteries leading to her brain are really bloked. They are worried that if they do an operation she will have a stroke and if not she will have another heart attack so are doing the op.

Does anyone have any advice about how you can support someone who has had a stroke and how to help them still retain some independance?

Having had both a heart attack and a stroke myself, may I refer you to the excellent website of the Stroke Association, as you obviously have internet access yourself even if your gran doesn't.

There are always risks involved in any opertation and I would reccommend you follow the advice of the consultant as to whether or not to have this operation.

I hope your gran has had her operation and is recovering well from it.
