Complaining about the NHS

If you are not happy with the treatment you have received or have been refused on the NHS you can make a complaint. Often it is best to try and sort out the problem informally if you can by talking to the staff at the service involved.

But if you do not want to do this or it does not help, you can use the NHS complaints procedure to make a formal complaint. You can use this procedure to complain about your NHS doctor, nurse, dentist, pharmacist, optician or any other NHS service you are unhappy with. For more information see our information sheet 'How to Make a Complaint'.
