You and your dentist

3. How often should I go to the dentist?

How often you go to the dentist will depend on when the dentist thinks you need a follow up appointment. It could mean that you go less regularly than you are used to. The time to your next check-up could be as short as three months or as long as two years. People with healthy teeth and gums will need to go less regularly. If you have higher treatment needs, you may need to attend more frequently than you did before. Your dentist will give you a date for your next appointment and discuss this with you.

It is important to keep your appointment with your dentist. If you miss an appointment without telling your dentist in good time, your dentist cannot charge you but they may decide not to offer you treatment.
