Advice and contacts

Most people are discharged from hospital without experiencing any difficulties. Hospitals work hard to make sure that everyone who is discharged has the support they need.

But if you are experiencing problems, there are a number of people you can talk to - the hospital itself, the social services department, or your Patient Advice and Liaison Service or equivalent. A local voluntary group, such as Age Concern or the Red Cross, might also be able to help you.

It is important to discuss your wishes and concerns about being discharged with hospital and social services staff. If you are worried about anything, no matter how trivial you think it is, then please do mention it to a member of staff. If they know about your worries, then they can try to do something about them.
