National Service Framework (NSF) for Older People
Older People's Champions
NSF Older People's Champions work to improve older people's services and use their influence to stand up for the interests of older people.
They have a role in ensuring older people have access to information about local services and plans for older people. All champions are committed to rooting out age discrimination in access to treatment and services and helping to implement the NSF and related improvements in services for older people.
There are four types of NSF champions for older people:
- Elected council members who represents older people's issues across their council.
- NHS non-executive directors who represents older people's issues across their NHS Trust.
- Health and social care professionals.
- Older people's representatives, who work through patients' forums and other channels to ensure that older people's views are considered in decisions about NHS and social care services.
