National Falls Awareness Week
21-25 June 2010
National Falls Awareness Day is back and has been extended to a week-long celebration. This year, we'll be working hard to promote the importance of physical activity, and strength and balance exercises.
Physical activity is one of the most effective ways of positively influencing our health. Not only can it lower our risk of getting serious conditions, such as stroke, heart disease and certain cancers, but specific programmes for strength and balance can drastically reduce the risk of falls.
Sign up to receive the Preventing Falls Update on the top right-hand side of this page, and we'll send you a link to the action pack when it becomes available in February. The action pack contains ideas on running an event and information on the latest resources.
Alternatively, you can email us at falls@helptheaged.org.uk with your contact details if you would like to receive a hard copy.
