Seniorlink saves a life
When Elsie fell and injured herself, she used her SeniorLink pendant to summon help which saved her life.
Elsie, 87, suffers from macular degeneration and very limited mobility. However, she lives independently at home with support from her family and carers, underpinned by the SeniorLink service.
One Tuesday afternoon, Elsie lost her balance and fell forward, sustaining a deep gash to her head. She was unable to move. Luckily she was wearing her SeniorLink pendant and was able to call for help.
SeniorLink operators quickly took action, contacting Elsie's neighbour who came to her aid immediately, and the Emergency Services who sent a paramedic team.
'There’s no doubt that SeniorLink saved her life
Elsie's daughter-in-law says, ‘There was no way Elsie could have got up unaided – she could have bled to death or gone into hyperthermia. There’s no doubt that SeniorLink saved her life.
'The operators were fantastic. They stayed on the line constantly, reassuring Elsie that help was on its way.'
Elsie made a good recovery and continues to live independently in her own home, with the support of the SeniorLink service.
