HIV and AIDS

The UN is discriminating against older people because of their age. Help us stop this right away.

The UN does not measure the impact and spread of infection of HIV and AIDS amongst people over the age of 49.

As a result, older people are excluded from measurements and policies to deal with the situation, and denied recognition and support for the vital role that many play as carers for the victims and children of victims of HIV and AIDS.

Some estimates show that 2.8 million adults aged 50 and older are living with HIV and AIDS worldwide. The global pandemic cannot be dealt with in the best way without involving older people.

We want the government to pressure the UN to include older people in all HIV and AIDS monitoring. This is the only way for older people take their rightful place at the heart of strategies to tackle the epidemic.
