Older manWhat we are doing

Over the past year thousands of people of all ages have joined Help the Aged in calling on the Government to make ageism illegal outside the workplace.

We've held photo stunts, lobbied our MPs in Parliament, protested outside Government ministries, petitioned across the country and presented our petitions to the Cabinet.

Our efforts have produced results. In June 2008 the Government announced it will ban age discrimination in goods and services, and also introduce a public duty requiring all public bodies to stamp out ageism in their work.

This is great news. But we can't stop there. It is vital we keep up the pressure so the Government delivers on these promises. Take action now.
