Close up of older man's legs as he walks on an uneven pavement What you can do

It is vital that we make sure all local authorities know they can’t get away with turning a blind eye to dangerous pavements.

You can report a dangerous pavement to your council by downloading and filling in this postcard

(For those who live in Wales there is a bilingual version of the card).

You can order hard copies of this card to distribute in your area by emailing falls@helptheaged.org.uk or calling 0207 239 1982.

(In Wales, please call 02920 346550 or email the Wales campaign team)

Help the Aged will follow up with each local authority you report to check their repairs. In June 2009 we will name and shame the worst-performing councils.

Personalised contact has a great impact. Write to your council's Head of Street Scene and let us know you have done this so we can follow up with your council.

See how many dangerous pavements have been reported in your region by checking the National Falls Awareness What's On page

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

The money for councils to spend on pavements comes from each national government, but the power to repair them rests with each local authority. If you live in Northern Ireland, you’ll need to report any dangerous pavements to the Central Roads Service
