What we want
We want safe, accessible public transport for older people, with no-one left isolated by lack of transport.
Specifically we want to see:
- Increased choice and flexibility. Alternative concessions such as taxi tokens, community transport and dial-a-rides will ensure vulnerable older people do not become isolated from society.
- Better services. Unsafe bus stops, small timetables, and inconsiderate drivers all present real obstacles.
- Improved consultation. Planners must consider variations in older people's mobility, and consult older people earlier in the decision making process.
