Super slimmer supports the Big Spring Walk
14 April 2008
Walking enthusiast Shahana Ahmed appeared on GMTV this morning in support of the Help the Aged Big Spring Walk. Shahana has lost 14 stone since 2002 and is encouraging people to recognise the health benefits of walking which helped to kick-start her weight-loss plan.
Shahana, 32, a young scientist from the University of Cambridge, weighed 23 stone 4 years ago and was too intimidated to enter a gym, choosing instead to begin her fitness and exercise regime walking by her home, in the dark, to ensure no one could see her.
Shahana has maintained her motivation for weight loss and exercise through her passion for Charity fundraising and her family.
Now weighing under 10 stone, Shahana has totally re-educated herself on healthy eating, nutrition and fitness, cutting out oily curries and high fat foods in favour of salads, vegetables and fruit and the occasional chocolate. In terms of exercise she walks whenever she can, cycles to work and runs at the gym. Shahana also includes other cardiovascular and weight work into her exercise regime.
Shahana has maintained her motivation for weight loss and exercise through her passion for Charity fundraising and her family. She has previously completed a Race for Life, a ½ marathon, and the BUPA Great North Run and is now supporting the Help the Aged Big Spring Walk.
Shahana is encouraging people to host their own Big Spring Walk between 25th - 27th April or attend one of the Charity's organised walks taking place across the country this spring, including in London's Hyde Park on 26th April.
