Scared older woman for enough is enoughEnough is Enough appeal

Joan’s story is just one case in 500,000. By supporting this campaign you will be helping to tackle a national scandal.

Joan hears the key in her door. She knows her so-called friend is letting himself in. She knows he’s going to try and kiss her.
Touch her.
Threaten her.
What she doesn’t know is how she’ll ever be able to stop him...

This is just one of 500,000 cases of elder abuse that are happening in the UK. Two thirds of this abuse is happening at home. Joan’s story is not an easy one to hear, but if you don’t listen, who will?

Please help. Listen to Joan’s story

Joan’s is just one case in thousands that are happening in the UK. The scale of the problem is shocking. The fact is, today in the UK, over half a million older people are at risk of being abused. The abuse can be physical. It may be psychological. Sometimes it’s financial, sexual or through neglect. Horrifically, as in Joan’s case, it can be a combination of the above.*

Elder Abuse is not just about numbers. It’s about the unbearable suffering that lies behind them. The victims often feel isolated, desperate and afraid.

Two thirds of abuse happens at home. All too often the abuser is someone the victim should be able to trust. Once that trust is broken, the victim feels helpless.

This situation cannot go on. By joining our campaign with a regular gift or donation, you can help protect older people, like Joan, from abuse.

We already support a helpline for victims of elder abuse and those who suspect it, but more needs to be done.

That’s why we are asking for your help. As little as £3 a month can help us make a difference. Please give whatever you can.
