Make a will with Will Aid
This autumn, ensure that your family is provided for and help vulnerable older people around the world.
What is Will Aid?
Will Aid is a scheme that encourages people to make a will whilst raising vital funds for charitable work.
It is run by nine leading charities, including Help the Aged, with solicitors' firms around the UK.
Will Aid puts you in touch with solicitors who will draw up a basic will for you free of charge during November. Instead of paying the usual fee, you can make a voluntary donation to the participating charities.
Since its launch in 1988, Will Aid has raised nearly £6 million in donations.
Why do I need to make a will?
Seven out of ten people do not have an up-to-date will. While many people believe that their spouse or partner would automatically inherit their house or other assets, this is not necessarily true.
If you die without a will, your loved ones may have to cope, not only with grief, but also with the emotional and financial stress of having to sort out your affairs. The only way to make sure that your estate is distributed as you wish is to have a properly drawn up will. It is the best gift you can leave for those you love.
How does it work?
Simply book an appointment with a participating local solicitor during November. To find one in your area, visit the Will Aid website
Appointments are taken quickly, so call as soon as possible, and make sure you mention the Will Aid scheme.
Your solicitor will not charge for drawing up a basic will, but the suggested donation to Will Aid is £75 for a single will, £110 for a pair of wills, and £40 for a codicil to an existing will.
