The course

Running the Chicago Marathon remains an incredible achievement for beginners and elite runners alike. Considered by many to be the world's best marathon course, it is extremely fast and flat.

Runners will be encouraged by the 1.2 million cheering spectators along the 26.2-mile course, which winds through 15 Chicago neighbourhoods, including the Chinese and Hispanic neighbourhoods. The race starts and finishes in Grant Park on Columbus Drive, near Buckingham Fountain and passes dozens of landmarks such as the famed Sears Tower.
