Why walk?

Little steps that make a big difference to older people

One in five older people in the UK live below the poverty line.

For many this means not putting the heating on during the winter, never enjoying a meal out, or being unable to afford basics like meat or fruit.

By being sponsored to take part in the Big Spring Walk, you can help some of the most disadvantaged older people in the UK.

Older woman with mug‘If he [my husband] has a bit of luxury, like a tinned soup, I won't share it with him. I think to myself - "No, I'll leave it because it'll last a couple of days". It's a bit of luxury for him. This is how you exist.'
