How your money helps
The work funded by raffles includes:
- raising awareness of the issue of elder abuse faced by thousands of older people in the UK;
- providing specialist transport vehicles for older people through the Senior Mobility Scheme; and
- international programmes set up to tackle poverty by helping older people to get access to social protection and pensions.
Previous winners
The second prize winner of our Summer 2008 raffle, Mr Irwin from West Yorkshire, was thrilled to hear he’d won a flatscreen television:
'I am very happy to have won and been able to 'help the aged' at the same time. I havn’t got a big enough cupboard to put the television in but it’s a very nice problem to have!'
The lucky winner of our Christmas 2007 raffle took home a brand new Vauxhall Corsa Life! Mr Beech of Devon said:
'I'm very happy to have won, I was really shocked when I found out. We're care workers ourselves and regular contributors to Help the Aged, so it's nice to get something back. It's important to us to raise the profile of Help the Aged and care work in general. The timing is perfect because our car's on its last legs! We'll be able to visit our elderly relatives more often now.'
