A Call in Time
The Help the Aged and Zurich Community Trust Call in Time programme is a free telephone befriending service that helps tackle isolation and promote independent living amongst older people.
About Call in Time
There are currently eight Call in Time projects across the UK, which are run in partnership with a range of local service providers. Each service sets up regular weekly phone calls with older people, providing the much needed chance for a friendly chat or wellbeing check up.
Over the past two years these trained volunteers throughout Britain have provided older people in their local community with support, advice and friendship through challenging times such as the isolation felt when ones family moves away, the decision to move a loved one into a care home and, most recently, the floods.
Who makes the calls?
Calls are made primarily by volunteers, recruited and managed locally by each project co-coordinator. All volunteers are CRB checked and undergo full training before volunteering with the programme.
