Work In Our Shops
Stock Preparation Volunteer
Why you are important
You will help us make sure we are the best dressed shop on the high street by helping us sort, select and prepare the best quality clothing and accessories. This role will be of particular interest to someone who loves fashion.
How you will help
- Helping to sort through donations of clothing and accessories;
- Preparing them for the shop floor by steaming, sizing, and hanging;
- Price items appropriately by considering the condition and brand; and
- Recycle any items that are unsuitable for sale.
The benefits to you
In return for your hard work, skills and enthusiasm we can offer you:
- Membership to the Shops Volunteer Club which entitles you to:
20 per cent discount in all Help the Aged shops
free social events
discounts on products and services
birthday and Christmas cards and gifts
a quarterly magazine.
- Unrivalled camaraderie;
- The chance to make new friends and feel part of a team; and
- The satisfaction in knowing your work is raising money to help the Charity work towards a better future for older people.
When you join our team of volunteers we promise that:
- You will receive the training and guidance you need to carry out your tasks;
- Your gift of time will be put to good use;
- You will be kept up to date with the Charity's work; and
- Your work will be recognised and appreciated.
How much time do I have to give?
We will always try to be as flexible as possible, however, most volunteers come in for one or two four-hour shifts a week.
How do I join the team?
The best way to become a volunteer with Help the Aged is to download and print the joining form on this page, take it with you into your local shop and speak to the shop manager. If you have the time, the manager will take you through a 'taster session' so you can see if volunteering is for you.
We look forward to you joining us.
