Work In Our Shops

Collectables Enthusiast

Why you are important

Your good eye could lead to a rare find. We need your knowledge and enthusiasm for bric-a-brac, collectibles and textiles to help us make sure that treasure is never mistaken for trash.

How you will help

  • Helping to sort through items of bric-a-brac, collectibles and textiles that have been donated to us - making sure you keep an eye out for any rare or valuable items;
  • Pricing these items appropriately using your knowledge to help us get their maximum value; and
  • Making sure that these items are always attractively displayed on the shop floor and that the shelves are constantly stocked.

The benefits to you

In return for your hard work, skills and enthusiasm we can offer you:

  • Membership to the Shops Volunteer Club which entitles you to:
    20 per cent discount in all Help the Aged shops
    free social events
    discounts on products and services
    birthday and Christmas cards and gifts
    a quarterly magazine.
  • Unrivalled camaraderie;
  • The chance to make new friends and feel part of a team; and
  • The satisfaction in knowing your work is raising money to help the Charity work towards a better future for older people.
When you join our team of volunteers we promise that:

  • You will receive the training and guidance you need to carry out your tasks;
  • Your gift of time will be put to good use;
  • You will be kept up to date with the Charity's work; and;
  • Your work will be recognised and appreciated.

How much time do I have to give?

We will always try to be as flexible as possible however most volunteers come in for one or two four hour shifts a week.

How do I join the team?

The best way to become a volunteer with Help the Aged is to download and print the joining form on this page, take it with you into your local shop and speak to the shop manager. If you have the time, the manager will take you through a 'taster session' so you can see if volunteering is for you.

We look forward to you joining us.
