Hand signing Gift Aid formDon’t just donate it – Gift Aid it

Bring your unwanted items to your local Help the Aged shop and sign up for Gift Aid, and the Charity can claim extra money.

On this page:

What is Gift Aid?

Any UK taxpayer wishing to make a donation directly to a Help the Aged shop can use Gift Aid to increase the value of their donation by 28 per cent. It has no cost implications and will not affect their tax code. Help the Aged can then reclaim the tax from HM Revenue and Customs.

Am I eligible to sign up for Gift Aid?

If you are a UK taxpayer and have paid an annual amount of income or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount of tax being reclaimed by the Charity then you can apply to be a Gift Aid donor.

How do I apply?

Just complete a Gift Aid Donor Declaration form when you bring your goods to the charity shop.

You will receive a Donor ID card with a unique number.

Once your stock has been sold, you will receive a letter informing you of the amount raised through the sale of your donation. With your consent Help the Aged will be able to reclaim the tax from the HM Revenue and Customs.
