Foreign currency
Been abroad this summer? Don't let that leftover foreign currency go to waste.
Take any change from your summer holidays to your nearest Help the Aged shop and we'll turn it into cash for our vital work with disadvantaged older people.
Help the Aged collects:
- notes and coins of any currency; and
- old European currency that is no longer valid.
Where to donate
Go to any Help the Aged shop and give your foreign currency to a member of staff. To find your nearest shop, visit the Help the Aged Shop Locator
This autumn, you can also donate your currency to Help the Aged by taking it to any branch of Barclays or International Currency Exchange (ICE).
Barclays will accept donations until 31 December. ICE will be collecting all year round.

Arrange your own currency collection
Collecting foreign coins and notes from friends and neighbours is an easy way of raising money for Help the Aged. Here are a few fundraising ideas to get you started:
- Ask people at your local school, college, university, church or office to bring in all their foreign coins and notes.
- Ask your local travel agent, bank or post office if they would mind keeping a collecting tin next to where people buy or change foreign currency, so they can drop off unwanted coins and notes.
- Do you have a family member or friend who works for a large company? If so, refer them to our corporate website
- You can download a foreign currency appeal poster (PDF, 420K) to let people know what you're doing.
