Students in a lectureSchools, colleges and universities

Schools, colleges and universities can make a big difference to older peoples' lives, simply by collecting unwanted goods.

The Help the Aged Recycling Appeal is a great way for students and teachers to get involved in an environmentally friendly initiative that gets rid of waste and raises valuable funds for charity.

The schemes are very straightforward:

  • simply collect your old mobile phones, toners and foreign currency and we can do the rest
  • you can get involved in one, two or all of these recycling schemes
  • we provide you with collection boxes and arrange to collect your items free of charge
  • we supply you with posters and leaflets to promote your recycling and we can present you with donation certificates to let you know how much you have raised for us

Mobile Phone Recycling: We provide a secure collection box and arrange a free collection once you have more than 10 mobile phones. The charity receives £5 (plus VAT) per reusable mobile phone. Any phones which cannot be reused are recycled. Nothing goes to landfill.

Toner Recycling and Collection Scheme: We provide collection boxes and arrange a free collection once 15 or more recyclable toners have been collected. We receive from 25p to £4 (including VAT) per reusable printer cartridge.

Foreign currency programme: We can provide your school with a collecting tin and secure bags to store your currency. Once you have collected 8kg of foreign currency, call 020 239 1869 to request your collection.

To start recycling with Help the Aged, just call the recycling hotline on 020 7239 1869, email us or fill in the online form.

If you have less than 8kg (less than 1½ secure bags full), simply drop the currency off at your local Help the Aged shop and inform us by calling 020 7239 1869 so that we can send you a recycling certificate.
