The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami left more than 300,000 people dead, and over one million displaced from their homes. The British public donated an outstanding £8 million to Help the Aged through the DEC. With these funds, we have helped 200,000 older people in India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia recover and thrive.

These inspiring photos show how older people have recovered from disaster and, with your help, continue to rebuild their lives.

We provided money for replacing tools and stock, and support to help older survivors recover from the physical and psychological effects of disaster.

Development
