Older People and Fear of Crime – the Next Steps
comprising:
Older People and Fear of Crime
Tackling Older People's Fear of Crime
Fear of crime can prevent older people leading fulfilled and independent lives, forcing many to become isolated and prisoners in their own homes. This two-volume report, presented in a library case, is published by the Help the Aged SeniorSafety Campaign, which aims to raise awareness of and tackle the threat that crime and the fear of crime pose to older people's independence by influencing policy and practices, and developing direct services. This important work reviews a range of existing crime reduction strategies and shows how success depends on widespread consultation and effective co-operation. The reports are also available separately (see below).

Older Women and Domestic Violence
Imogen Blood
For many older survivors of domestic violence, suffering in silence is the norm. Their reluctance to speak out, combined with low awareness among other people, means that too many women are not getting the help they need. Based on research by the Older Homelessness Development Project, this report looks at the services available for older survivors of domestic violence and the barriers to take-up. It recommends ways to make services more attractive and between elder abuse and domestic violence.

Putting a Stop to the Abuse of Older People
Jacki Pritchard
The harming or mistreating of older people is surprisingly common but is often well hidden. Victims may not ask for help, so abuse can be difficult to identify and to address, and it is certainly little talked about. This booklet explains what to look out for and how you may be able to help.
