Older People: our neglected assets
Although older people represent a very large potential social and economic asset, our society neglects these assets with damaging and expensive consequences for us all. The focus of this paper, compiled by Help the Aged in consultation with partners including the Third Age Employment Network and the Oxford Institute of Ageing, is on promoting healthy independent ageing and on facilitating the inclusion of older people as contributing citizens. It recommends early intervention and investment in appropriate services to stop older people becoming socially excluded and a wasted resource.
