Volunteer - Peer Speaking

Help the Aged in Scotland is holding a Scottish conference on 20th May at Dunblane Hydro. On the subject of Volunteer  Peer Speaking.

Peer Speaking is the idea that people hear information better when it’s delivered by someone they can relate to:  Who knows about how crime feels more than someone your own age? Who has a thing or two to say about the sticky subject of Digital Inclusion? Dentist & podiatry services? How about Age Discrimination?? Read on…

We want to show how Peer Speaking works, and introduce potential volunteer Peer Speakers to old hands. We want people to talk about how people communicate and how to make talking and listening work better. And we want to give you a great lunch in a fabulous venue.

So who can come?

Our Peer Speaking pilot programme currently targets The Highlands, East Glasgow and Dumfries & Galloway. So if you live or work in any of those areas and are interested in Peer Speaking, we’d like to hear from you.

You might be someone who’s interested in learning more about the Peer Speaking process, or who might want to volunteer. We also want to invite service providers who are interested in promoting the concept in their field, and anyone who has an interest in our favourite subject: People who speak to people.
